Journal of Science and Mathematics Education in Southeast Asia (JSMESEA) is the official journal of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) for Regional Centre for Education in Science and Mathematics (RECSAM). The Journal serves as a medium for the exchange of ideas and the dissemination of information in science, mathematics and technology education for a wide range of readership.

RECSAM has been actively publishing quality papers relevant to the teaching and learning of science and mathematics at the primary and secondary levels and the areas of teacher-education for the past 45 years. JSMESEA is an open-access journal published once annually in December and all manuscripts are double-blind peer reviewed before publication. The journal processing fee is free.

Articles published in the journal are papers reporting results of original research, reviews on specific topics not available elsewhere in up-to-date form, and short communication in which advances in knowledge of significance are briefly announced.

Submission of paper is taken to imply that it has not been submitted to other journals and that, if accepted, will not be published elsewhere. All papers submitted for publication in JSMESEA are evaluated by subject matter experts and go through editorial revision. JSMESEA uses anonymous reviewing, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential.

Journal Peer Review Statement

Journal of Science and Mathematics Education in Southeast Asia (JSMESEA) employs a double-blind peer review process for all submitted manuscripts. Upon submission, manuscripts are initially screened by the editorial team to assess their adherence to the journal’s scope and standards. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria are promptly rejected. Typically, two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant field are assigned to each submission. Manuscripts are evaluated based on their originality, significance, methodological soundness, clarity, and overall contribution to the field. Authors will receive reviewer comments and a decision (accept, reject, or revise and resubmit) within this timeframe, along with a justification table for the feedback provided by reviewers. The handling editor makes a final decision on the manuscript, taking into account the reviewers’ final assessments and the authors’ revisions. All submissions and reviews are treated with the strictest confidentiality.
