Abstract

Windscreen Glass Waste is one of the typical wastes on the construction site. Windscreen Glass Waste can be ground into a certain size of particles to replace the material in the construction industry. This study investigates and analyzes the effect of windscreen glass waste on the replacement of sand into the mortar mixture on water absorption. Windscreen glass waste was collected from the disposal area and was crushed and ground using LA abrasion. Later, ground windscreen glass waste powder was filtered by sieve analysis apparatus so as collect only the size of sand particles. Windscreen glass waste, OPC, water and fine aggregate were mixed according to mixed design and percentage of replacement of windscreen glass waste. Once the casting process was done, the mortar specimens were cured 7 days before the water absorption test took place. The study found that mortar with replacement with windscreen glass waste produced a better result as compared to the control (0%). However, 30% of substitution and 30% of windscreen glass waste has produced the lowest water absorption level.
