Pembelajaran Berasaskan Inkuiri Menggunakan Model 5E dalam Kursus Pengurusan Pusat Sumber : Kekuatan dan Cabaran

Abstract

Abstrak: Kertas kerja ini membincangkan kekuatan dan cabaran mengaplikasi pembelajaran berasaskan inkuiri menggunakan model 5E dalam pelaksanaan salah satu tugasan pentaksiran berterusan di mana pelajar (siswa guru) perlu merangka cadangan program untuk pusat sumber sekolah masa hadapan yang mengambil kursus elektif terbuka Pengurusan Pusat Sumber. Pembelajaran berasaskan inkuiri telah dipromosikan secara meluas dalam domain pendidikan di Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia (KPM) dan menarik secara intuitif sebagai pendekatan pedagogi dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran (PdP) kursus ini. Hal ini kerana dalam semester pengajian pelajar, wujud cabaran berkaitan mengaplikasi pembelajaran berasaskan inkuiri secara retrospektif dan prospektif, memandangkan pelajar mempunyai masa yang singkat (semester pendek) untuk menyelesaikan kursus ini seperti mana ketetapan pada jadual akademik selain berlaku perubahan mod PdP daripada segerak kepada tidak segerak pada pertengahan semester pengajian, justeru penularan pandemik. Kajian ini dilakukan secara analisis kandungan dengan meneroka pandangan pelajar berkaitan aspek kelebihan dan cabaran mengaplikasi PdP berasaskan inkuiri menggunakan model 5E dalam menyiapkan tugasan kerja kursus yang dijalankan. Dapatan menunjukkan, pelajar paling bersetuju PdP inkuiri dapat memberi panduan kepada mereka dalam pelaksanaan tugasan dengan lebih jelas, pelajar berupaya meneroka skop tugasan dengan lebih tepat, selain dapat menjadikan tugasan pelajar dilaksana lebih sistematik, berkualiti dan kreatif. Manakala antara cabaran kebanyakan pelajar paling bersetuju adalah mereka memerlukan lebih masa memahami konsep 5E bagi yang pertama kali menggunakan serta merasakan penggunaan model menyebabkan pemikiran terikat dalam melaksana penyelesaian tugasan.

Abstract: This paper discusses the strengths and challenges of applying inquiry-based learning using the 5E model in the implementation of one of the continuous assessment tasks, which students (pre-service teachers) need to formulate a program proposal for the future school resource centers, whose took an open elective course of Pengurusan Pusat Sumber. Inquiry-based learning has been widely promoted in the education domain in the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) and is intuitively attractive as a pedagogical approach to applying in the teaching and learning (TnL) of this course. During the semester, there is a challenge to students to apply inquiry-based learning to be done retrospectively and prospectively, as students have a short time (short semester) to complete the course as stated in the academic schedule, and in addition, there is a change of TnL mode from synchronous to asynchronous in the middle of the semester, cause of the spread of the pandemic. This study was conducted through content analysis by exploring students' views on the advantages and challenges aspects of applying the inquiry-based learning using the 5E model in completing the coursework carried out. The findings show that most students agreeable is inquiry-based learning provides guidance to them in the implementation of the tasks more clearly, students can explore the scope of the task more accurately, and make they are able to solve the assignments more systematically, quality, and creatively. While among the challenges of most students agreeing is, they need to spend time to understand the concept of 5E, especially those who are first-time using the model 5E and they feel the model tied them to exploring of solution of the task.
