KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNING STRATEGIES IN HIGHER LEARNING INSTITUTION
Abstract
The main purpose of this research paper is to propose the conceptual model of Knowledge Management (KM) and Organizational Learning (OL) in the Higher Learning Institution for its continuous improvement in knowledge performance and innovation. KM is about the process of the flow of knowledge from individual learning to organisational learning through its KM Enablers i.e. learning, leadership and technology factors. The OL is the capability of an organization to absorb external knowledge and to transform internal knowledge for the organization’s future knowledge assets. The OL capability through its two dimensions i.e.s absorptive capability and transformative capability can lead to organization’s better knowledge performance and future value creation. Thus, this empirical research is therefore aimed to address the lacking of studies in examing both KM and OL strategic processes to improve knowledge performance and innovation in the Higher Learning Institution. Research objective for this research is to determine the integrative model between KM and OL strategies for the selected Higher Learning Institution’s knowledge performance and innovation. A questionnaire survey was used as the main instrument to collect data from the academicians in the selected higher learning institution. The empirical findings from this research can provide advancement in the literature on the proposed conceptual model of both KM and OL strategies on the organisational performance of the selected Higher Learning Institution in Malaysia. Through Factor Analysis and Multiple Regression Analysis, the statistical results of this conceptual model does provide positive and significant support for this conceptual model of KM and OL in the Higher Learning Institution.
