Abstract

18
This study investigates the psychological, social, and organizational factors influencing safety practices among maintenance workers in Malaysia. It aims to improve safety compliance, reduce accident rates, and promote a safer working environment. The study uses the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) to understand attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control. Despite safety protocols and regulations, accidents still occur due to these factors. The objective of this paper is to investigate the behavioural factors that impact the safety practices of maintenance workers. The findings indicate experienced workers adhere to safety protocols more, highlighting the need for training, effective communication, proper equipment uses, and positive attitudes to reduce accidents. For future study, it is suggested that longitudinal research and technological advancements can enhance safety behaviours, reduce accident rates, and foster a culture of safety among maintenance workers, requiring consideration of diverse demographics.
