Factors Influencing Fast Food Restaurants to Use Paper-Based Packaging in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia
Abstract
The study identified the factors influencing fast-food restaurants to use paper-based packaging and discussed the similarities and dissimilarities between factors influencing fast-food restaurants to use paper-based packaging in Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. The methodology used in the study is secondary descriptive research, where factors from three countries: Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, were discussed. The factors include environmental concerns, biodegradable material, trends in packaging, and packaging design. The overall findings indicate that the similarities and dissimilarities of the variables stated in Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia are affected by the strict/lenient enforcement of rules and regulations in the countries. As the country with the most strict enforcement, Singapore has recorded a higher use of biodegradable materials, especially paper-bag-based packaging, followed by Malaysia and Indonesia.
