Abstract

Young ESL learners’ document analysis showed that the pupils’ reading comprehension was surprisingly low. Therefore, in this study, it was aimed to determine the effectiveness CEFR V-DEO in improving the young ESL learners’ CEFR reading comprehension. In addition, it was also aimed to see the effectiveness of CEFR V-DEO in motivating the young ESL learners to read. 26 participants were selected in the study through document analysis. This study used mixed method design. The methodology used include pre test and post test analysed with a t test analysis. Tests were conducted to see effectiveness of CEFR V-DEO in improving reading comprehension assisted by the t-test analysis of the tests’ results. Also, observation was carried out to see how CEFR V-DEO helps in motivating the pupils to read. As results, t test analysis showed that there was statistical significance between both tests. This indicated that CEFR V-DEO was effective in improving the pupils’ reading comprehension. The results of observation made showed that, CEFR V-DEO was able to motivate the pupils to read. This research aims to help other teachers with the same issues to be made as future reference.
