Assessment of University Lecturers' Readiness to Adopt Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology in North-East of Nigeria
Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) is poised to transform higher education by offering personalized learning experiences, automating administrative tasks, and providing enhanced data analytics. However, the successful implementation of AI in educational settings is contingent upon the readiness and willingness of university lecturers to adopt this technology. This article assesses the readiness of North-East Nigeria university lecturers to adopt and integrate AI into their teaching and administrative practices. Using survey approach, 100 university lecturers, were used for this study. Findings of the research revealed a moderate level of readiness among lecturers, the article concludes with recommendations for universities to bridge proficiency gaps, address ethical concerns, and foster a supportive environment for AI adoption. Future research directions are also suggested to further explore the longitudinal impacts of AI training programmes and the development of continuous technological adaptation strategies for lecturers.
