Abstract

COVID-19 is the largest respiratory disease, challenging humanity in recent years, and a comprehensive understanding of COVID-19 has become an indispensable step in its comprehensive treatment and prevention. The study of COVID-19 patients' lung airways is of paramount importance, yet there have been very few studies on COVID-19 patients' lung airways. Therefore, in this paper, we will perform 3D modeling of COVID-19 airways and numerical simulations of respirable particulate matter deposition using the reconstructed 3D model with the ANSYS FLUENT software. This study will utilize the ANSYS FLUENT software to simulate the reconstructed 3D model for particulate deposition numerically. It was found that the velocity rates in the pulmonary airway (in the lungs) of COVID-19 patients conformed to theoretical logic, with gas flow rates near the wall being significantly smaller than in the center, and that most of the respirable particulate matter (PM) was deposited at the bifurcation of the airway and a small portion at the bends in the airway.
