Abstract

Research on internationalization of SMEs is a new discipline that has developed strongly and has enriched over the last four decades. Indeed, several studies, especially in the Anglo-Saxon environment and mostly on the perimeter of developed countries, have focused on the process of internationalization of SMEs and on the role of entrepreneur in the success of such international operations.  However, only few studies applied internationalization theories to emerging countries and to the African geography.  Thus, the objective of this paper is to conduct a study in the Moroccan field of SMEs to better understand the role of entrepreneurs and how they can be more agile in winning international markets. Through this research, we aim to leverage leader’s skills and competencies to further develop SME’s internationalization in an emerging country context.  The Main results of this research is a theoretical framework and study results to follow using an empirical study based on questionnaire that targets SME’s managers in Morocco.
