Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 11-point Arial font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Once logged in, please go to 'user home' and click 'new submission'.

If you already logged in but cannot find any link to upload your article, please make sure that you had registered as a reader and AUTHOR too. To do that, please click 'user home' and then click 'edit my profile' or just click here. Look at 'roles' and tick AUTHOR. Don't forget to save.

To submit your article, click 'new submission'. Then, choose the appropriate section for your article and follow the instructions.


Articles in Bahasa Melayu (Malay) and English are to be written with single spacing on a single sided A4 size paper, using Arial font size 11, and size 9 for footnotes (if any). For manuscripts in Arabic, the font should be Traditional Arabic size 16 for the text and size 12 for the footnote. All articles will be reviewed and evaluated at least by one reviewer by blind review.

Each article should include an abstract in English. Abstract should contain no more than 300 words. It also should include the objectives, methodology and findings. 3-5 keywords that are relevant to the article should also be listed.

References & Bibliography

References in the text should use the author-date system. Example: A fatwa is a notification of Islamic law witch is not binding (al-Fasiyy, 2000). 

All Bibliography (including arabic articles) should be written in Roman script. Example: Bahnasiyy, Ahmad Fathiyy. 1989. Madkhal al-Fiqh al-Jina'iyy al-Islamiyy. Ed. 4. al-Qahirah: Dar Al-Shuruq. 


Authors and articles contributors are responsible for the copyright of their own writing.

Al-Qanatir: International Journal Of Islamic Studies is dedicated to presenting, promote, enhance and contribute in publishing original articles, researches results, case studies and book reviews related to the field of Islamic studies.

The Editorial Board is responsible for preventing publication malpractice. Unethical behavior is unacceptable and Al-Qanatir does not tolerate plagiarism in any form.  Authors who submit articles to the Al-Qanatir affirm that manuscript contents are original. Submission also implies that the manuscript has not been published previously in any language, either fully or partly, and is not currently submitted for publication elsewhere.  


  1. Publication Decisions: The editors of the journal is responsible for deciding to accept or reject the manuscripts or can send it for modifications.
  2. Review of Manuscript: The editor ensures that each manuscript is initially evaluated by the editor, who may make use of appropriate means, to examine the originality of the contents of the manuscript. After the manuscript passes this test, it is forwarded to at least one reviewer for blind peer review, and will make a recommendation to publish the manuscript in its present form or to modify or to reject it. The review period will be no more than 30 days.
  3. Fair Review: The editor ensures that each manuscript received is evaluated on its intellectual content without regard to authors’ sex, gender, race, religion, citizenship, etc.
  4. Confidentiality: The editor must ensure that information regarding manuscripts submitted by the authors is kept confidential.
  5. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: The editor can not use unpublished materials, disclosed in submitted manuscript.


  1. Confidentiality: Manuscript reviewers, the editor and the editorial staff must not disclose any information regarding submitted manuscripts. All submitted manuscripts are to be treated as privileged information.
  2. Acknowledgement of Sources: Reviewers of manuscripts must ensure that authors have acknowledged all sources of data used in the research. Any similarity or overlap between the considered manuscripts, or with any other published paper, which is in personal knowledge of reviewer, must be immediately brought to the editor’s notice.
  3. Standards of Objectivity: Review of submitted manuscripts will be conducted objectively. The reviewers shall express their views clearly, with supporting arguments.
  4. Promptness: If a reviewer believes it is not possible for him/her to review the research reported in a manuscript within the designated guidelines, or within stipulated time, he/she should notify the editor, so that the accurate and timely review can be ensured.
  5. Conflict of Interest: All reviewers should have no conflict.


  1. Reporting standards: Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.
  2. Originality: Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original.
  3. Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publications: Authors should not concurrently submit the same manuscript for publishing to other journals. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
  4. Acknowledgement of Sources: Author(s) should acknowledge all sources of data used in the research and cite publications that have influenced their research.
  5. Authorship of the Paper: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper, and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.
  6. Data Access and Retention: Authors should retain raw data related to their submitted paper, and must provide it for editorial review, upon request of the editor.
  7. Disclosure of Financial Support: All sources of financial support, if any, should be disclosed.
  8. Fundamental errors in published works: When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her submitted manuscript, the author must immediately notify the editor.


This journal is not tolerated in the following situations: 

(1) Plagiarism.
(2) Data falsification.
(3) Redundant publication. 
(4) Stealing from others.

Authors are responsible to their articles and strongly recommended to withdraw their articles in above situations. This journal is not responsible if there is any lawsuit from any party. 

Once the paper is published online in this journal, the author who wishes to withdraw the paper must pay 300 USD for damages. The paper will then be withdrawn within four weeks.
