Penglibatan Terhadap Gejala Rokok dan Dadah dalam Kalangan Pelajar Baharu Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin
The study was conducted to address the problem of involvement in smoking among new students of Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin (PSMZA) in Jun 2017 session. The respondents involved were 295 students who recently enrolled in PSMZA for June 2017 session. The objective of this study is to reduce the involvement of new students PSMZA junior on smoking symptoms. The methods used are quantitative and qualitative. Data collection was conducted through questionnaire and interview session. The results of the study showed that 99% of respondents knew about cigarette and smoking hazard. Meanwhile, 95% of respondents received information regarding smoking hazard. In addition 95% of respondents said they were not smoking in dormitory and 87% of respondents said stress was not a cause of cigarette smoking. The implementation of the action is completed within 2 months. The action plan is to diversify programs that promote the awareness of smoking dangers at polytechnics and increase the rate of fines and summons for smoking in amongst PSMZA students. The results show that the percentage of involvement in smoking of new PSMZA students in June 2017 session decreased where they better understand smoking symptoms while the percentage of influence and cause of engagement can be reduced.
